Lemon
First up is lemon, a classic cleaning ingredient which is popular in any household. Whether you create a DIY spray by mixing lemon and water in an empty spray bottle. This will result in a cheap method which works like a charm. Alternatively, you can buy lemon-scented hand wash, dish soap, floor cleaner, and air freshener, anything lemon-scented will help keep the spiders away. There are also lots of places where you can buy lemon-fragranced products like candles and reed diffusers which help cover wider areas due to the scent throw from the product.
Cedar
Next up is cedar. This is a natural spider repellent which can be purchased in blocks, chips, or small shavings. Place in wardrobes, cupboards, drawers, and other hiding spots you can think of.
Peppermint
Peppermint is our next recommendation. Again, this is a cheap method to try, fill an empty spray bottle with water and add 10-15 drops of peppermint essential oil and spray in areas where spiders tend to enter the space and hide. Or, you could also buy a peppermint-scented candle, reed diffuser or plug-in aroma which can help spread the scent. Alternatively, you could add a few drops of peppermint oil onto a ball of cotton wool and place them in areas where spiders may enter the area i.e. any holes in the wall or by windows.
Vinegar
Finally, white vinegar is a great ingredient for keeping spiders away. Create a water and white vinegar spray in an empty spray bottle and spray along the areas where spiders can enter.
